WHEEL COVER FITTING & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Spare Wheel Cover: Installation, Safety & Care Guide

Thank you for your purchase. Please read this guide carefully before installing or using your new wheel cover.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU BEGIN
  • Do not peel off the protective anti-scratch film or apply any vinyl stickers until you have fully verified that the cover fits your tyre.
  • Returns or exchanges cannot be accepted once the protective film has been removed or stickers have been applied.

1. Understanding Your Sizing

This is a bespoke, multi-fit product rather than a standard off-the-shelf item.

  • There are over 255 sizes for 4x4s and vans, divided into 24 distinct groups.
  • Each outer ring is designed to fit up to 10 tyre sizes within its group. For example, a Group 3 ring (diameter: 27", width: 8.4") fits both 215/65/16 and 215/70/15 because their physical dimensions are identical.
  • Please do not assume you have received the wrong size if the writing on the box or disc differs from your exact tyre size. If you have any concerns, please contact us.

2. Proper Latching & Hook Alignment

To prevent damage to the locking mechanism:

  • Ensure the hook part of the closing latch sits firmly inside the locking slot. It must not catch on the edge of the metal ring itself.
  • Do not force the lever. Forcing the latch while the hook is catching on the rubber seal or ring edge will bend or break the metal.
  • Note: Returns showing damage from forced latching are easily identifiable and will not be eligible for a refund or replacement.

3. Dealing with Minor Dents

While we pack our items securely, minor dents can occasionally occur during transit.

  • Minor Dents: These can often be easily removed. Place the wheel cover face-down on a carpet or soft surface, and gently push the dent outward from the underside using the heel of your hand or foot.
  • Larger Dents: A suction-based dent puller (commonly used by garages) can easily pull out larger dents.
  • Transit Damage Claims: For severe transit damage, we will happily assist you in filing a claim with the courier. Please email us clear photographs of the damage within 7 days of delivery.

4. Troubleshooting Fitment Issues

If the ring does not fit correctly on your first attempt, please try the following steps:

  1. Check Spare Tyre Size: Confirm that the tyre size of your spare wheel matches the other four tyres on your vehicle.
  2. Tyre Pressure & Wear: Verify tyre pressure. A brand new or fully inflated tyre will be slightly larger than a worn or under-inflated one. Adjusting the tyre pressure slightly can improve the fit.
  3. Adjust the Gap/Overlap:
    • If the ring feels slightly short, you can safely leave a gap between the two meeting edges.
    • If the ring feels too large, you can overlap the two edges of the ring.
  4. Use Padding or Cover: If the fit is slightly loose, try fitting the ring over your old soft cover to improve grip, or insert leather padding strips. Ensure the final fit is firm and secure.
  5. Accept Edge Curves: The width of the ring may vary slightly at the edges due to the manufacturing curve; this is normal and expected.
  6. Try the Ring Only: Attempt to fit the outer ring without the centre disc. If the centre disc is preventing the ring from closing, you can gently sand or grind down the outer edge of the centre disc by 1–2 mm.
  7. Use the Two-Way Adjustments: The latching mechanism features two adjustment points: the hook slots, and a fine-tuning adjustment underneath where you can rotate the bracket to adjust tension.

5. Exchanges & Returns

We want you to be completely satisfied with your cover.

  • Exchanges: We will exchange the cover if it is the wrong size, or if it arrives damaged beyond repair, provided you contact us within 7 days of delivery.
  • Incorrect Size Ordered: If the incorrect size was ordered, the buyer is responsible for return carriage costs. We recommend services like Parcel2Go (which offers affordable collection from your home via DHL, DPD, or Yodel).
  • Return Conditions: Returns must be arranged in advance, sent at the buyer's expense, and returned within 7 days in the original packaging, complete with the centre disc and keys.
  • Customer Support: If you experience any issues, please contact us directly before leaving feedback. We are committed to resolving all issues amicably and honestly.

6. Safety & Maintenance

  • Sharp Edges: As this is a metal product, please handle with care and wear protective gloves during installation.
  • Regular Checks: Regularly inspect the tightness of your tyre cover. Do not drive on public roads if the cover is loose or the lock is faulty.
  • Lock Placement: Always install the cover with the lock positioned at the very bottom to ensure proper water drainage.
  • Lubrication & Care: Periodically apply a light spray oil, wax, or metal polish to keep the ring shiny and protect it from weather elements. Keep children away from the locking mechanism and keys.
  • Car Washes: Avoid high-pressure or intensive automatic car washes, as they can damage or scratch the cover.
  • Refurbishment: Over years of use, you can easily repaint or touch up the ring, underside, or centre disc to keep it looking new.
  • Disclaimer: Click Superstore Ltd accepts no liability for direct or indirect damage or injury caused by this product. It is the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner/driver to ensure the cover is securely attached and safe for road use.
